The
continental cycling team, LeTua, which had been outstanding during
Jelajah Malaysia (JM) this year is looking forward to break the
domination of international teams in the upcoming event next year.
JM
2008 Executive Chairman, Datuk Astaman Abdul Aziz said that LeTua
will be lining up Ahmad Haidar Anuawar, Mohd Asril A. Rahman, Anuar
Manan, Nor Rizuan Mohd Zainal, Mohd Sayuti Zahit, Tonton Susanto and
Arehan Ryan as their riders in the JM2008.
He
added that Anuar who won the Green Jersey (King of Sprint) in JM 2007
would be looking forwared to keep the title; King of Sprint in the
upcoming 2.2 cattegory race.
"JM
this year had shown the progress and development of LeTua’s riders
such as Anuar, Nor Rizuan Zainal dan Ahmad Haidar compared to other
local riders”.
"In
the upcoming race next year, the race will be more challenging and
the cycling fans will be looking forward to see LeTua packing a punch
to compete with the fearsome list of great international riders,"
he said.
He
said that with LeTua’s participation in the race, five other local
teams; Majlis Sukan Negara, Wilayah Persekutuan Putrajaya, Wilayah
Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Benteng Muda Selangor and team MNCF can
work together and put up a fierce competition against other teams.
In
JM 2007, Anuar, 21years old, won the green jersey as early as in the
first stage and also in two other stages; Kuala Terengganu to Kota
Baharu and Ipoh to Kuala Kubu Baru.
Astaman
said that the team also lined up experienced riders from Indonesia,
Tonton and Ahmad Haidar who had been really great in the Le Tour de
Langkawi (LTdL) tahun ini.

2008 organized by Ten Speed Events Sdn Bhd is a seven-stage cycling
championship stating from Putrajaya and through the streets of Negeri
Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Genting Highlands and to be concluded in
Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur involving a route
of a staggering 1,003.8 kilometre.
Compared
to JM2007, which involved the route of East Coast and the West Coast,
JM 2008 offers a higher overall prize of RM 245,000 to attract more
international riders participating in this event.
